After teaching elementary school for almost 20 years, I was looking for a career change that would still allow me to help people. I consulted with family and friends, and then decided that becoming a counsellor would be a good choice for me. I am currently a City University masters student working with clients under supervision as a part of the internship portion of my program.
I have chosen person-centred therapy as my main therapeutic approach. I aim to create a comfortable and non-judgmental environment that allows the client to choose the direction of the therapy for themselves. I also like to expose my clients to solution-focused therapy to help foster positive change in a client by constructing solutions instead of focusing on problems.
I prefer to work with children of any age, parents struggling with their children, and women of all ages.
