Hello, my name is Abbey and I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I believe that while life’s challenges can often feel overwhelming, we are not meant to face them alone. Whether you are navigating a major life transition, coping with grief or stress, or simply feeling stuck, it is my hope to provide a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you feel supported and truly heard. My approach is rooted in empathy, curiosity, and collaboration. I take an integrative person-centered approach to counselling, tailoring our work together to meet your unique needs and goals. Whether you’re seeking clarity, connection or a greater sense of balance, I will work alongside you to explore what matters most and to rediscover the strength and resilience that already exists within you. Before entering the counselling field, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, specializing in pre-counselling and forensic psychology. I bring over 5 years in the social services sector, including my current work as an Outreach Worker. I have supported individuals navigating mental health challenges, addictions, disabilities, and housing instability. I have also volunteered as a support worker and group facilitator at a recovery society, asking alongside men in their journey toward healing and recovery. These professional and personal experiences have shaped the lens through which I view healing and growth, one that honours the complexity of each person’s story. I am passionate about helping individuals, and under clinical supervision, I am committed to fostering a warm, inclusive, and empowering space. I would be honoured to support you on your mental health journey.
My journey into counselling has been shaped by a combination of personal and professional experiences. Growing up, I witnessed loved ones struggle with their mental health, which opened my eyes early on to the importance of compassionate, non-judgmental support. These experiences instilled in me a deep sense of empathy and a desire to understand the complexities of emotional pain and healing. In my current role as an outreach worker, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside individuals facing immense challenges such as homelessness, addiction, and trauma. Bearing witness to their resilience, even in the most difficult circumstances, has only deepened my commitment to this work. I’ve also noticed that throughout my life, people naturally come to me to share what they’re going through — often saying they feel safe or lighter after talking with me. These moments have affirmed that holding space for others is not just something I do, but a part of who I am. At the heart of my work is a belief in the power of connection, dignity, and the human capacity for change, even when things feel messy or uncertain.
I would describe my therapeutic approach as person-centered, narrative-based, and trauma-informed. At its core, my work is grounded in empathy, authenticity, and respect for each client’s unique story. I aim to create a collaborative and non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to explore their experiences at their own pace. I draw from narrative therapy to help individuals make meaning of their lives, identify their strengths, and re-author stories that may be shaped by pain or disconnection. I also work from a trauma-informed lens, recognizing the impact of past experiences on present functioning and prioritizing safety, empowerment, and choice throughout the therapeutic process. My approach is flexible and integrative, allowing me to tailor sessions to each person’s needs while maintaining a strong relational foundation.
I feel especially called to work with individuals who have experienced marginalization, whether through mental health challenges, trauma, addiction, or systemic barriers. My work in outreach has deepened my appreciation for the resilience that exists even in the most difficult circumstances, and I’m passionate about creating a space where people feel seen beyond their struggles. That said, I welcome working with anyone who feels aligned with my approach. I believe every person deserves a safe and affirming space to explore their experiences, and I’m committed to walking alongside clients from all walks of life with care, curiosity, and respect.

Outside of counselling, I find joy in movement, creativity, and meaningful connection. I love being out in the sun—whether I’m walking, playing pickleball, or exploring nature. Exercise is a big part of how I care for my mental health, as are creative outlets like crafting, pottery painting, and dancing. I’m also passionate about travel, having deep, meaningful conversations, and discovering new food spots to try. These experiences help me stay grounded and curious, and they reflect the same values I bring into my work: presence, joy, and connection.
