Dominic Willson

Pronouns  (he/him)

I am a practicum counsellor currently completing my Master’s in Counselling Psychology and offering low-cost, supervised therapy through Counselling For All. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity and respect for each client’s unique experience. I have supported individuals facing grief, caregiver burnout, and challenges related to meaning, purpose, and connection.

I am particularly interested in supporting people who are navigating anxiety, depression, loneliness, anger, and intrusive or self-critical thoughts as these are common but often overwhelming experiences that can significantly impact one’s sense of self and quality of life. I take a strength-based perspective and believe each of us has the capacity to live in alignment with our values and to create a life that feels both meaningful and authentic.

My Therapeutic Approach

My work is grounded in trauma-informed care and draws from emotionally focused therapy (EFT), existential and humanistic principles, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I aim to offer a safe, compassionate space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to grow.

Population that I prefer working with

I welcome clients of all genders and backgrounds and have a special interest in supporting men’s mental health. I also work with individuals navigating major life transitions, including changes in career, relationships, aging, and identity. As an immigrant to Canada who has lived and taught English in various parts of the world, I bring a culturally responsive lens to my work and deeply value the diverse ways people make sense of their lives and experiences.
