Hello, I'm Katerina

I am a Canadian immigrant who moved in my twenties and learned to navigate life in a new culture as I transitioned into motherhood. These lived experiences have deeply shaped my counselling practice and strengthened my commitment to supporting clients through life stages and transitions.

I am passionate about offering culturally sensitive, trauma‑informed care that honours each person’s unique story. I feel grateful to witness my clients' life experiences and to support them on their life journeys. I have worked with refugees and communities historically excluded across diverse contexts. These encounters have deepened my belief that resilience often emerges in the most challenging circumstances.

With the right support, individuals can cultivate the capacity for endurance, healing, and meaningful change.

In our work together, clients experience me as

Warm · Genuine · Supportive · Sincere · Anchoring

My therapeutic approach

I tend to conceptualize cases through an existential lens, focusing on identity, meaning, and values. In practice, I integrate parts‑work interventions informed by Janina Fisher’s TIFS model, alongside somatic activities, tapping, and imagery when clients are open to them. I often provide handouts on emotional regulation and interpersonal skills from the DBT Skills Training Manual as homework, and I find the DBT “Wise Mind” framework more accessible and efficient than CBT concepts. Psychoeducation is a central part of my work as well, particularly around nervous system responses and the window of tolerance. I also try to use transference and countertransference processes for assessment and interventions.

Working with me, you would learn to:

  • Explore values and identity
  • Expand tolerance towards uncertainty and ambiguity
  • Build a dialogue between internal conflicts and emotions
  • Practice acceptance as a drive towards change
  • Build skills to strengthen a balanced and meaningful life

Training & professional development

  • Bachelor of Psychology
  • MACP Yorkville
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Grief Counseling and Treatment
  • Healthy Grieving and Adaptation to Death and Loss
  • Somatic Therapy for Complex Trauma Certification Training
  • Techniques for Mind-Body Healing
Clinician’s Suicide Prevention Course: Treatment Strategies to Inspire Hope and Save Lives
