Hello, my name is Kelsy and I am a current graduate student attaining my Masters of Counselling Psychology. I have a strong passion for holistic mental health care that is accessible and individualized for all who seek it. I decided to pursue counselling so I could be apart of delivering that type of care as I have always been driven to help others and I have a genuine interest in people's experiences that are different from my own.
As a highly sensitive person who is queer and nuerodivergent I intimately understand the positive difference that appropriate mental health care can make for the individual and for those who care about them. My professional work in child and youth counselling and with people with developmental disabilities has further strengthened my belief in the importance of mental health care and provided a more rounded understanding of the types of challenges others can face. My experiences and values have driven me to work from a trauma informed approach that is based in an anti-oppressive counselling practice.
I work from a trauma informed, strengths-based, anti-oppressive, client centred lens while utilizing techniques from different modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I work collaboratively with clients to tailor approaches used in session to their needs and wants.
I strive to foster an environment of trust, cooperation, respect, and honesty.
I feel most called to work with young adults, individuals, LGBTQ2S+ individuals, neurodivergent individuals, highly sensitive people, and people who are dealing with depression and anxiety. Whether you are trying to find a better way to navigate daily life, are struggling with acute or chronic challenges, or are unsure what you need, the step to seek out mental health care is one of strength and I welcome any new clients who feel aligned with my approach.
