I’m currently completing my Master’s in Counselling Psychology and doing my practicum with Counselling for All. My approach to counselling is person-centred and trauma-informed, with a focus on creating a space where people feel safe to show up as they are—without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out. I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), while also adapting my approach to meet each person’s unique experiences and needs.
Through my work supporting children and families in a non-profit setting, I’ve seen how important it is to create environments where people feel genuinely heard and supported. I’m especially passionate about working with individuals navigating anxiety, identity, relationships, and life transitions. What inspires me most about this work is being able to hold space for people as they reconnect with themselves and begin to make sense of their experiences in a way that feels empowering and meaningful.
My journey into counselling is deeply connected to both my personal experiences and my cultural background. Growing up in a Punjabi community, I saw how mental health was often misunderstood or left unspoken, which shaped how I learned to navigate my own emotions. For a long time, it felt like certain struggles had to be carried quietly, and that experience is a big part of what led me toward this field.
At the core of my work is the intention to be the kind of support I once needed—someone who creates a safe space where people feel seen, accepted, and able to be fully themselves. I’ve come to understand that life isn’t always black and white; much of our experience exists in the grey, and we’re all trying to figure things out in our own way. Because of this, I approach each person with curiosity, empathy, and respect for their story. I am to create a space where clients don’t feel the need to hide parts of themselves, and where healing can begin through feeling understood and less alone.
My approach is person-centred and trauma-informed, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and a flexible, strengths-based approach tailored to each individual.
I value creating a space where clients feel safe, respected, and genuinely understood. I believe people shouldn’t have to hide parts of themselves to be accepted, so I approach my work with empathy, openness, and without judgment.
I’m mindful of how culture, family dynamics, and identity shape each person’s experience, and I aim to meet clients where they are with curiosity and respect. Above all, I want clients to feel less alone and supported as they make sense of their experiences in a way that feels right for them.
I feel especially drawn to working with individuals navigating anxiety, life transitions, identity, and relationship challenges. I also have a strong interest in supporting individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds, particularly those who may be navigating the impact of culture, family expectations, and identity on their mental health.
At the same time, I welcome working with anyone who feels aligned with my approach and is looking for a supportive space to explore their experiences.
