One of the hardest things a person can do is allow themselves to be seen during moments of struggle. I believe therapy should feel like a space where you do not have to carry everything alone- a space where you can show up exactly as you are, without fear of judgement or pressure to have everything figured out. Hi, my name is Muqadus, and I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. My passion for counselling comes from wanting to help individuals feel safe enough to slow down, be vulnerable, and feel genuinely heard. I understand that starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially when you are used to carrying everything on your own. I strive to create a warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental space where you feel heard, valued, and comfortable being yourself whether you are navigating anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, burnout or just trying to better understand yourself and your experiences. My goal is not to change who you are, but to help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have been buried beneath survival, expectations or self- doubt.
Coming from a South Asian Background, mental health struggles were often minimized, misunderstood, or kept private, which can make it difficult for individuals to openly talk about their emotions or seek support. I grew up seeing how people could appear “fine” on the outside while silently carrying their emotional struggles underneath. These experiences deeply influenced my desire to become someone who creates a safe space for others to feel heard, validated, and accepted without shame. Through working in peer support settings and counselling-related environments, I developed a stronger appreciation for the importance of empathy, cultural sensitivity, and authentic human connection in the healing process.
Healing does not begin with having all the answers- it begins with feeling safe enough to be heard.
My therapeutic approach is person-centred and integrative grounded in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and psychodynamic perspectives to best support each clients unique needs and goals. I recognize that healing looks different for everyone, and I strive to adapt the space and direction of therapy in a way that honours each client’s comfort level and lived experiences. Together, we can explore patterns, process emotions, build healthier coping strategies, and work toward meaningful growth in a way that feels supportive and empowering.
The values that guide my work are compassion, empathy and authenticity. In my work, I aim to hold a space with warmth, curiosity, and understanding while meeting clients where they are emotionally and personally. Most importantly, I want clients to feel that their experiences matter, their emotions are valid, and they no longer have to carry everything on their own.
I welcome working with individuals who may be navigating anxiety, stress, self-esteem concerns, relationship challenges, cultural identity, emotional overwhelm, academic/career pressure, and attachment difficulties. I also welcome individuals from all backgrounds and life experiences who feel connected to my warm, collaborative, and client-centred approach to therapy.
