Hello, I'm Muskaan

My approach to counselling emphasizes compassion, collaboration, and genuine connection. I strive to create a space where you feel safe exploring difficult thoughts, emotions, and experiences while receiving a steady presence and evidence-based support for meaningful change.

As a second-generation immigrant, I understand some of the complexities of bicultural identity, including pressures related to assimilation, cultural loss, family values, and belonging. These experiences have shaped my commitment to culturally responsive, socially just counselling.

My own experiences receiving support for depression and trauma during adolescence also influenced my path into this work. I understand how much fear and uncertainty can accompany seeking professional help, especially within cultures where mental health concerns may remain unacknowledged. I hope to offer the same warmth, empathy, and safety that helped make healing possible for me.

I especially enjoy supporting youth and young adults navigating family concerns, relationships, identity, life meaning, and purpose. I also welcome first- and second-generation immigrants, members of the South Asian community, and anyone who connects with my approach.

In our work together, clients experience me as

Compassionate · Warm · Collaborative · Culturally responsive · Genuine

My therapeutic approach

My approach is humanistic, person-centred, and integrative. Depending on your needs and goals, I may draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques.

Our work is guided by acceptance, collaboration, and cultural humility. Together, we can explore your experiences, deepen your self-understanding, and strengthen your sense of agency while developing practical ways to move forward.

Working with me, you would learn to:

  • Develop greater emotional insight and attunement
  • Better understand your thoughts, emotions, and experiences
  • Build healthier coping strategies
  • Strengthen self-confidence and personal agency
  • Explore questions related to identity, culture, and belonging
  • Move toward change that feels meaningful to you

Training & professional development

  • Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, Yorkville University, in progress
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, University of British Columbia
  • Crisis intervention training
  • Suicide prevention training
