Meet Oladunmomi Sadiq

My approach to counselling is client-centered, trauma-informed, and strengths-based, with a strong emphasis on safety, dignity, and collaboration. I am currently completing my Master of Social Work and building my clinical skills through supervised practice, drawing on both evidence-based frameworks and reflective self-awareness. I am inspired to do this work by a deep belief in people’s capacity for healing, growth, and restoration when they are met with empathy, consistency, and respect. Supporting individuals through periods of vulnerability and transition is both a responsibility and a privilege that continues to shape my commitment to this field.

My journey into counselling and healing work has been shaped by both lived experience and professional exposure to individuals navigating trauma, displacement, loss, and transition. As an immigrant working in a helping profession, I have witnessed firsthand the resilience people carry even amid profound uncertainty. My work in shelters, treatment settings, and support roles has deepened my respect for the complexity of human stories and the importance of meeting people without judgment. The core of my values are compassion, faith, dignity, and a belief in restoration that healing is possible when people are supported with consistency, empathy, and respect for their autonomy. These experiences continue to ground my commitment to walking alongside others in their healing process rather than directing it for them.

My Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic approach is client-centered, trauma-informed, and strengths-based, with a strong emphasis on safety, dignity, and collaboration.

The values that guide my work with clients are respect, safety, empathy, and integrity. I strive to hold space in a way that is calm, non-judgmental, and collaborative, where clients feel heard, believed, and supported at their own pace. I prioritize creating an environment that respects each person’s lived experience, cultural context, and autonomy, while recognizing the impact of trauma, power, and systemic barriers. What matters most to me is fostering trust and consistency, showing up with presence, humility, and openness so clients feel safe to explore their experiences and strengths without pressure or expectation. I see the therapeutic relationship itself as a key part of healing, and I work intentionally to ensure it is grounded in dignity, compassion, and mutual respect.

Population that I prefer working with

I feel especially drawn to working with individuals navigating trauma, life transitions, displacement, and periods of vulnerability, including women, newcomers, and those impacted by systemic or relational harm. At the same time, I welcome working with anyone who feels aligned with my approach and values. I believe meaningful therapeutic work can emerge wherever there is readiness for support, reflection, and growth, and I remain open to walking alongside diverse individuals as they work toward healing and stability.

Fun Facts

A personal detail I enjoy sharing is that I value creativity and quiet reflection outside of my professional work. I enjoy writing, listening to music, and spending intentional time with my family, as these help me stay grounded and present. I also appreciate spaces that allow for both meaningful conversation and moments of calm, which often influences the way I show up in my work with others.
