How to Check Your Coverage

Insurance coverage varies from plan to plan, even within the same provider. The best way to know what your plan includes is to check:

1. Your Extended Health Benefits booklet
Look for sections titled:

  • Psychology
  • Counselling
  • Psychotherapy
  • Clinical Social Work

2. Eligible provider types
Counselling for All works with Registered Social Workers, Registered Clinical Counsellors, Registered Psychotherapists, and supervised intern therapists.
Your plan will specify which provider types it covers.

3. Annual limits or session maximums
Many plans set an annual dollar amount (for example, $300–$1,000 per year).

4. Direct billing vs. reimbursement
Some plans allow direct billing. Others require you to pay upfront and submit your receipt for reimbursement.
