Meet Gurneet Bassi

My name is Gurneet Bassi, and I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia and have been working in the mental health field in various roles. My counselling approach is rooted in creating a warm, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and supported. What inspires me in this work is witnessing the resilience of the human spirit and supporting individuals as they find ways to heal, grow, and live more empowered lives.

My journey into counselling began with supporting mothers experiencing postpartum challenges, which sparked my passion for helping others through life’s difficult transitions. Since then, I have worked as a neurofeedback technician, supporting clients from diverse backgrounds in their mental health journeys. These experiences have shown me the importance of individualized care and taught me that each client’s story is unique. Values such as empathy, compassion, and respect guide my work and continue to shape how I hold space for others.

My Therapeutic Approach

I take an integrative and client-centered approach, primarily drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centred Therapy. I also integrate other modalities when appropriate, tailoring sessions to each client’s needs and goals.

My work is guided by empathy, respect, and collaboration. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their stories, exploring challenges, and developing strategies that align with their values and strengths.

Population that I prefer working with

I enjoy working with individual adults, youth, and university students—particularly those navigating life transitions, identity exploration, anxiety, or stress-related challenges and anyone who feels aligned with my services.
